Jim has an extensive background in the chimney & hearth industry, and is an accomplished consultant and expert witness for fireplace and chimney related issues. Jim has an easy going style and connects well with juries, making him a uniquely capable witness. Jim has handled codes & standards development for the National Chimney Sweep Guild since 1988 and is well versed in fireplace & chimney related code issues. Jim was the Chairman of the committee that developed the Chimney Inspection Standard (Level 1, Level 2 & Level 3) which was published by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) in 2000. Jim has been a member of the NFPA 54 National Fuel Gas Code committee since 1990 and the NFPA 211 Chimney, Fireplaces, Vents and Solid Fuel-Burning Appliances since 1999.
